Voltron

Voltron began in Japan as Beast King GoLion, a Toei super robot anime from 1981. Western audiences met it as Voltron: Defender of the Universe, where five robot lions combine into a giant warrior armed with a blazing sword. The show became a fixture of 1980s children's television and the name has been revived many times since. UK delivery is free.

Collector's Guide

Collectibles

Our range features the Chogokin Voltron from Tamashii Nations, made to mark the 45th anniversary of Beast King GoLion. It revives the standard Chogokin GoLion that Popy first released in 1981, recreating the proportions and feel of that original die-cast toy at about 15 cm. The body and legs are die-cast while the Juo-ken sword and Space Cutter shield are chrome-finished. The four lion heads on the hands and feet launch just as they did on the original toy.

Why Collectors Love It

Voltron is a childhood memory for many collectors who grew up with 1980s television. The Chogokin release speaks directly to that memory: it is not a modern reinterpretation but a faithful revival of the toy that sat on shelves alongside the show. The launching lion heads, the silver plating and the weight in the hand are exactly what made die-cast robots of the period feel special.
