"Thunder, Thunder, ThunderCats, Ho!" That battle cry has echoed through playgrounds and living rooms since 1985, when Rankin/Bass brought Ted Wolf's characters to television. The series follows a group of feline aliens who flee their dying homeworld of Thundera and settle on Third Earth, where young Lion-O must grow into his role as Lord of the ThunderCats. Armed with the Sword of Omens, he leads Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara and the twins WilyKit and WilyKat against the ancient sorcerer Mumm-Ra. Striking character designs, dramatic storytelling and a memorable score earned the show a devoted following that has never faded, making it one of the most celebrated animated series of the 1980s.
